When appropriate, we use our trained paralegals to serve our clients. This use of non-lawyer employees to assist our lawyers is designed to minimize the cost of legal services to our clients. Naturally, the work of our paralegals is subject to the supervision and responsibility of our attorneys. Our paralegals and other staff attend continuing education courses and participate in the North Carolina Bar Association's paralegal certification process.
We use state-of-the-art technology to aid in the delivery of our professional services. All legal assistants receive training in current computer software for office applications. In addition, the Firm's document management system, as well as up-to-date email and internet software expedite document storage, retrieval, and delivery – which ultimately saves our clients time and money.
Our staff includes billing and bookkeeping personnel who help us verify that our accounting, billing and bookkeeping practices are proper and efficient. We maintain an extensive law library, which includes not only the most current legal reference books, but also the web-based Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw databases – a research tool available to each attorney and paralegal on his or her desktop. We also employ an experienced Director of Human Resources and Facilities, who enhances our daily operations by regularly evaluating our staffing needs, retaining highly skilled employees, and ensuring that our personnel policies and benefits are the best for our firm. To make sure that hand and emergency deliveries reach our clients promptly, we also employ full-time couriers/assistants.
