New Attorney Joins Firm’s Trusts and Estate Practice Group

Blanco Tackabery is pleased to announce that attorney Morgan M. Insley has rejoined the firm after practicing law in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, for several years. She will concentrate her practice in Trusts and Estates law. Blanco Tackabery has more than 40 years of experience helping business owners and individuals handle complex estate planning and wealth transfer.

Morgan is licensed to practice law in both North Carolina and South Carolina. Prior to rejoining the firm, Morgan handled complex trust planning and real estate transactions for two other firms in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She has prepared trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and various other estate planning instruments to fit a wide variety of client situations.

Blanco Tackabery Hosts Reception for NBTF 2022

We were thrilled to host a reception for this year’s National Black Theatre Festival (NBTF) at our new office in Sentinel Commons. Thank you to our guests for helping us celebrate this dynamic performing arts festival, including the legendary Ben Vereen. Ben is set to receive the Sidney Poitier Lifelong Achievement Award during the festival this week.

Winston-Salem Hosts 2022 National Black Theatre Festival

The National Black Theatre Festival begins Monday, August 1st in North Carolina’s city of arts and innovation, Winston-Salem! This celebration of spirit includes over 130 dynamic performances by professional Black theatre companies from around the world. The collection of performances includes new works and Black classics ranging from workshops and films to a star-studded celebrity gala.

The National Black Theatre Festival® (NBTF) is the international outreach program of the North Carolina Black Repertory Company (NC Black Rep), Winston-Salem, NC. The festival was founded in 1989 by the Late Larry Leon Hamlin and is produced by the North Carolina Black Repertory Company.

Blanco Tackabery Attorney Appointed Vice Chair of UNCSA Board of Trustees

Blanco Tackabery is proud to announce that attorney Peter J. Juran has been appointed to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) Board of Trustees as the vice chair for 2022-23. Peter is an involved member of our community, formerly serving on the UNCSA Foundation Board of Directors for six years before joining the board of trustees in 2021. He has also served on the board of directors of Leadership Winston-Salem, Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County, Trellis Supportive Care and the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA).

Blanco Tackabery Attorney Named to NCBA Board of Governors

Blanco Tackabery is proud to announce that Ashley S. Rusher has been elected to the North Carolina Bar Association Board of Governors. Ashley will be serving a three-year term on the board beginning in 2022-23. She will also be serving as a Director of the NC Bar Foundation Board of Directors and will serve on the Foundation’s Audit and Finance Committee. Ashley serves on the firm’s Management Committee and is an attorney in the Bankruptcy and Creditor’s Rights Practice Group and Outside General Counsel Practice Group. Her background of 30 years in business bankruptcies, distressed debt workouts, problem loan recovery, and real estate title and commercial litigation provides her with a solid foundation of general business, accounting and legal skills.

We are proud to come together with our community to support this effort, which helps to raise funds and awareness for the Cancer Patient Support Program (CPSP), ensuring that no one faces cancer alone. The CPSP provides patients and caregivers with the assistance they need in facing a cancer diagnosis, with group counseling, support groups, patient aid, and other healing and holistic therapies designed to ease the cancer journey.

This year’s SummerLark event is being held in person. In addition to the Ribbon Challenge, a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, there will also be an outdoor concert at Bailey Park featuring Aloe Blacc.
